This is a collection of colour icons for your System, folders, and SimpleText that I collected from various Internet sources. They include prototypes for Copland (System 8) and the new Mac OS icon.
Installation
Both the System and SimpleText icons are installed using ResEdit, and I’m not going to bother to tell you how to do it, nor am I going to tell you about how stupid it would be to do it on your active System file. Any true Mac user should know those things by now.
However, you will note that my icon resources use the same IDs as the System and SimpleText resources, so you can simply “Select All” the resources, copy and paste them into the appropriate files, and click “Yes” when it asks you if you want to replace the resources with those that have the same ID.
For the folder icons, use the Finder’s Get Info box to copy and paste the icons onto your own folders.
Use these at your own risk, and if you screw something up, don’t come crying to me. But if you like them, let me know:
